There are quite a few ways to get a fishing rod. The easiest way to obtain a fishing rod is to buy it from the market. You can buy the rod and the bait for some cash. However, can save that money to buy something worthwhile.

Alternatively, you can accept the ‘Let’s Go Fishing’ quest and look for Vast, the NPC. You will find the fishing quest on the 5th Caravan Quest board.

To get the fishing rod for free, you will have to make your way to Vast the NPC. You will stumble upon Vast in the Fall Forest on the Minor Island 1. Interacting with Vast will trigger the quest log. At the end of this quest, you get the fishing rod and the bait.

How to Craft Fishing Rods in LifeAfter

Once the whole fishing thing is unlocked, you can craft fishing rods. The basic wooden fishing rod can be made using wood and hardwood vine.

As you level up, you will unlock iron fishing rod and fiberglass fishing rod. The better the rod, the better the catch. With iron and fiberglass rods, you can catch rare fish.

To craft iron fishing rod, you need iron ore, hardwood vine, and wood. For the fiberglass variant, you need wood, hemp step, hardwood vine, and resin.
