Massive Mass Outbreak

How to Get a Massive Mass Outbreak Spawn in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released last month after much fanfare and hype. It is the latest instalment in the Pokémon series and takes a much different turn than its predecessors do in terms of storytelling and game mechanics.

The game takes place in the ancient Hisui region, which would become modern-day Sinnoh eventually. Fighting and capturing Pokémon is drastically different with battles taking place on the overworld instead of turn-based instance battles as was the staple of the series thus far.

The game was so successful and praised worldwide that a major free update was announced recently by Pokémon Presents, namely the Daybreak Update, which introduces new features to the game. One of them was the addition of Massive Mass Outbreaks.

Massive Mass Outbreaks

Massive Mass Outbreaks were introduced in the Daybreak update and is the new way to find a huge number of Pokémon in a short amount of time.

The difference between the normal Mass Outbreaks and the Massive versions is that Mass Outbreaks will spawn a lot of 2-3 types of Pokémon in an area, whereas Massive Mass Outbreaks are basically multiple Mass Outbreaks spawning in at a time.

How does one get them to spawn though?

Spawning Massive Mass Outbreaks

For these versions of Mass Outbreaks to spawn, players will need to complete the main story of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. After the credits finish rolling, players will notice a peculiar new icon appearing on the map, a question mark. These are an indicator of Massive Mass Outbreaks spawning in the area.

Upon travelling to a location with a Massive Mass Outbreak, all areas of that region will have question marks on them on the map. However, to know which Pokémon will appear there, players will still have to travel to the location.

To make the game spawn a Massive Mass Outbreak, entering and leaving Jubilife Village will work. Talking to the guard will indicate a chance for a Massive Mass Outbreak to spawn. If it still doesn’t spawn, switching regions and coming back should do the trick.
