How to Get and Use Byleth

Both the male and female versions of Byleth are treated as separate units. Byleth: Tested Professor and Byleth: Proven Professor are the male and female versions, respectively.

Like any other unit in Fire Emblem Heroes, their 4-star versions can be acquired from any of the summon banners. Their 5-star versions can only be obtained through special summoning events, including the following:

  • Mythic Heroes – Sothis
  • Focus: Heroes w/Distant Counter
  • Free 5-star Hero: Fire Emblem Leads
  • Focus: Heroes with Odd Wave Skills
  • Focus: Tempest Trials
  • Focus: Chosen Family

These events are only available for a limited time, but do not worry if you miss them, as they will repeat eventually.

Both versions of Byleth have the same stats (roughly), weapons, and skills. Their passives are different though, so we’ll list both characters’ passive skills.

Stats

A maxed out Byleth at 5-star will have the following stats:

  • HP: 36/40/43 (50%)
  • ATK: 33/36/39 (55%)
  • SPD: 35/38/42 (70%)
  • DEF: 31/34/37 (60%)
  • RES: 17/20/23 (40%)
  • Overall: 167-169

Weapon

  • Creator Sword: Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). During combat, neutralizes effects that guarantee foe’s follow-up attacks, prevent unit’s follow-up attacks, grant “Special cooldown charge +X” to foe, or inflict “Special cooldown charge -X” on unit.

Specials

  • Ruptured Sky: Boosts damage by 20% of foe’s ATK. If in combat against a dragon foe or beast foe, boosts damage by 40% instead of 20%.

Passives (Byleth: Tested Professor)

  • Distant Counter (A): Counterattacks are possible regardless of foe’s range.
  • Chill SPD 1-3 (B): Decreases the speed of the enemy with the highest SPD stat at the start of a turn.
  • Odd SPD Wave 1-3 (C): At start of odd-numbered turns, grants increased SPD to unit and adjacent allies for 1 turn. Bonus granted to unit even if no allies are adjacent.

Passives (Byleth: Proven Professor)

  • Fury 1-4 (A): Increases unit’s ATK/SPD/DEF/RES. After combat, unit takes self-damage.
  • Wrath 1-3 (B): At the start of a turn, if unit’s HP is below a certain threshold and attacking will trigger a Special, grants Special cooldown count-1, and the Special will deal increased damage.
  • Even ATK Wave 1-3 (C): At start of even-numbered turns, grants increased ATK to unit and adjacent allies for 1 turn.(Bonus granted to unit even if no allies are adjacent.)

Strategy

Both Byleths have pretty outstanding stats, with a standout being their SPD. They excel at preventing enemies from using their strong specials, which is very helpful on maps with powerful boss units. They’re also great at taking out Dragon and Beast enemies.

Tested Professor’s specialty is slowing down the enemy team. If there is a speedster among the foes, Chill SPD and Odd SPD Wave will slow them down while speeding you up, giving you the upper hand. Though, this utility loses a bit of practicality since Byleth already has a naturally high SPD stat.

Proven Professor opts for pure strength, with lots of passives that boost her offensive power. With both Fury and Wrath, you can make Ruptured Sky easily able to one-shot just about anything in your way.

Both Byleths unfortunately sport some rather low RES, so be careful when using them against mage units, as they’ll take some damage. Tested Professor’s Distant Counter allows him to counterattack no matter where the enemy is, so keep that in mind.
