Technical Machines, or TMs, are data discs that can bestow new moves upon your Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. TMs are a quick and easy way to hone your battle strategies, as you don’t need to grind out levels to learn certain moves. Today, we’ll show you how to get Dazzling Gleam (TM079) in Scarlet & Violet.
Getting Dazzling Gleam (TM079) in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
TM079 teaches the Fairy-type special move, Dazzling Gleam. The user emits a strong flash, which damages adjacent enemies on the field with a base power of 80 and 100 accuracy.
Before you can craft TM079 at a TM Machine, you’ll need to unlock it first. There’s only one way to earn TM079, and that’s through Team Star’s Fairy Crew Base.
All the way up near Paldea’s northernmost point lies the Fairy Crew Base, in North Province (Area Three). This is usually the final Team Star base to take down for most Trainers, but depending on your journey’s path, it may be different for you.

Regardless, the Fairy Crew’s leader, Ortega of the Ruchbah Squad, is probably the most challenging Team Star leader. He’ll come at you with Fairy Pokémon that are around level 50 and above, so make sure to bring a Poison or Steel type with you.
You must defeat Ortega in battle before you can make Dazzling Gleam. Here are his Pokémon:
- Lv. 50 Azumarill (Water/Fairy)
- Lv. 50 Wigglytuff (Normal/Fairy)
- Lv. 51 Dachsbun (Fairy)
Just like the other Team Star leaders, you’ll have to face a custom Revavroom as your final opponent. It’s Fairy-type, so keep the pressure on with more Steel and Poison moves.
Take down Ortega’s team, and he’ll reward you with TM079 Dazzling Gleam. The free copy you get will unlock the ability to craft more at TM Machines. You’ll need the following materials:
- 8,000 LP
- Swablu Fluff x 3
- Hatenna Dust x 3
- Fidough Fur x 3
In a rare instance, you cannot find a copy of TM079 out in the wild, so you’ll need to beat Ortega before you can craft it.
