Dratini may be one of the most recognizable dragons in all of Pokemon. In fact, it was the first and only Dragon type that existed for quite a while before generation two introduced Kingdra. Even many years later, Dragonite holds up as a powerful unit compared to the other dragons that have come since then. Here is how to get it in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
What You Need To Get Dratini
Because it’s considered part of the National Pokedex, Dratini is only available in the postgame setting. In turn, you can only find a Dratini by using the Super Rod on water. To get the Super Rod, you must visit the Battle Resort and talk to the Fisherman standing at the beginning of Route 225. The Battle Resort unlocks once you become the Champion and complete the National Pokedex.
Where To Find Dratini
Next, visit Mount Coronet and fish on a body of water. This is the same way that you can find a Feebas. Dratini has a fairly low drop rate, so you will probably be fishing for a while, but it will eventually show up. You may also find a Dragonair, Dratini’s middle form.
Dratini evolves into Dragonair at level 30 and Dragonite at level 55. Upon evolving to Dragonite, it will become a Dragon/Flying type instead of just Dragon type. Some moves that work well for Dragonite are Outrage, Dragon Pulse, Safeguard, and Thunder Punch. Train up this Dragon and it will surely destroy every foe in its path.
