When you come across the Carian Study Hall while exploring the Liurnia region of Lands Between, you will find an altar near the Statue found right in front of the Carian Study Hall Site of Grace—that upon interacting will ask for a special item.

The Special Item in question is the Inverted Carian Statue. Once you have obtained it, you can place it on the altar to turn the Carian Study Hall upside-down to open a path that leads to the Divine Tower of Liurnia.

You can get the Carian Inverted Statue from Ranni the Witch in exchange for the Fingerslayer Blade.
