How to Get to Grymforge in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)

Learn all there is to know on how to get to Grymforge in Baldur's Gate 3 the easy way with this handy guide.

If you’re ready to make your way to Act 2 in Baldur’s Gate 3 and explore the locations that were not a part of the early access map, you can get there using different paths. One of those paths leads you over the Mountain Pass, northwest of the initial map area you explore when you start the game. However, it requires you to face off against some hostile Githyanki—unless you have a Githyanki party member who can convince them to step down.

To reach Grymforge in Baldur’s Gate 3, you need to get through the Underdark. In case you haven’t been to the Underdark yet, you can find the best way to get to this underground area down below. However, if you’ve already reached the Underdark, these are the instructions on how you can get to Grymforge.

The starting point for your journey to Grymforge in Baldur’s Gate 3 is the Beach in Underdark. You can find this location south of the colony of the Myconids. Look for a small settlement with some destroyed houses (Decrepit Village), and you’ll know you’re there.

However, before you can depart, you need to clear out the area of enemies and defeat the duergar and Gehk. Only after the fight will you be able to board the boat docked at the pier and be on your way to Grymforge.

The trip itself is not without challenges—you will be intercepted by Corsair Greymoon, and you need to pass specific checks if you want to avoid fighting him (Intimidation, Deception, or Strength). When you finally make it to the land, you need to speak with Morghal, who asks for a donation of 100 Gold, but you can refuse him with no consequences. After that, you can explore Grymforge as you please.

How to reach the Underdark in Baldur’s Gate 3

In case you haven’t been to the Underdark yet in Baldur’s Gate 3, you should know that you can reach it via different paths. Arguably, the best way to get to the Underdark is through the Goblin Camp—more precisely, the Defiled Temple. Once you eliminate the ogress lurking in this location, you find a puzzle on the ground. Solve the puzzle, and that opens the path to the Selunite Outpost in the Underdark.

However, you can use alternative access points, including:

  • The elevator at the Zhentarim hideout
  • A pit in the Whispering Depths (you need Feather Fall for this)
  • The mushroom circle beneath Auntie Ethel’s Teahouse

That’s all there is to know about how to reach Grymforge (and the Underdark). Have fun exploring the new area, and don’t forget to check out more of our guides in the dedicated Baldur’s Gate 3 section if you need more assistance with this immense game.
