Breeding and selling fruit in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is one of the best ways to make money fast. In this guide, you will learn all the most important information about fruits.
Fruits in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
There are six types of fruits in New Horizons:
- Apples
- Cherry
- Peaches
- Coconuts
- Pears
- Oranges
Only one type of fruit grows on your island. Others can be planted by picking them up from Mystery Island (a mysterious island that we can travel to by purchasing a ticket from Nook Miles) or by visiting another player’s island.

Besides eating fruits, you can also sell them in the shop. Native fruits, that is, those that were on the island from the very beginning will be sold for 100 Bells, and any others, even if they grew on your island, for 500 Bells. The exception is coconuts, for which you will always receive 250 bells. In short, it is worth buying exotic fruits, breeding, and selling them.
How to Plant a Fruit Tree in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?
When you get fruit, you can plant them so that from time to time they guarantee you a new set of fruit to eat or sell.
To do this, dig a hole in the ground with a shovel, and then turn to face it. Open your inventory, select the desired fruit, and select “Plant 1.” The character will place the fruit in the hole and bury it.
For trees to grow properly, they cannot be next to each other. It is also worth knowing that the coconut tree grows only on the sand, i.e. on the beach.
How Long Do Fruit Trees and Fruits Grow?
- Fruits grow for 3 days (you always get 3 fruits).
- Fruits from a foreign island grow after a break for 5 or 6 days.
- The planted tree grows for 3 days, and the fruit takes another day.
Remember that instead of planting, you can uproot an entire tree and plant it elsewhere, saving time.
