All of the main characters in NEO: The World Ends With You have a peculiar ability that you must use during the adventure to move the story forward or unlock additional content. Among these abilities is Nagi’s Dive ability, which allows the party to dive deep into the mind of any person whose negative thoughts are attracting Noise to defeat them. Completing these battles successfully will reward you with Friendship Points that can be used to unlock new skills via the Social Network.

How to Increase Dive Battles Ranking in NEO: The World Ends With You

Dive Battles play out pretty much like any regular Chain Battle, only that you will have to fight Emotion Noise that come with some special effect that can be pretty annoying, such as HP Drain. All Dive Battles also feature a timer that determines which rank you will get once you have won the last Reduction – Gold being the highest and Bronze the lowest. The faster you win the Dive Battle, the higher your rank will be.

As you need to win all Reductions in the shortest amount of time, it will be difficult to get Gold Rank the first time you play any Dive Battle, even on the Easy difficulty setting. As such, the easiest and fastest way to get Gold rank is to replay Chapters after you have completed the game: your stats will be high enough by then that you should have no trouble dispatching all of the Noise in a very short amount of time.

To increase your chances of getting Gold rank, you should also complete side quests found in Week 2 Day 2, and Week 3 Day 2, and unlock the related skills. These skills increase the time limit for Time Battles, making it easier to get Gold rank and thus the maximum amount of Friendship Points.
