How to Increase Move PP in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released last month after much fanfare and hype. It is the latest installment in the Pokémon series and takes a much different turn than its predecessors do in terms of storytelling and game mechanics.

The game takes place in the ancient Hisui region, which would become modern-day Sinnoh. Fighting and capturing Pokémon is drastically different with battles taking place on the overworld instead of turn-based instance battles, as was the staple of the series thus far.

One feature that has not changed from the previous games is the Power Points, or PP, system. This system replaces the traditional Mana Points system available in most classic RPGs with Pokémon’s signature Power Points system.

Move PP

Power Points are a finite resource available per move that is a quantifiable indicator of how many times a certain move can be used before it gets exhausted. The PP system drops the shared mana pool system that traditional RPGs have and changes it into a limit system per move instead.

Depending on the type of move, its max PP can vary. Some moves have up to 40 PP at max while some rarer, and more powerful moves have as low as 5 PP. The only way to restore PP back after battles is by using certain items or resting at base camps and settlements.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes it a step further and allows players to reslot their moves, which allows them to refresh some moves by switching them around their move slots. But is there a way to increase the max PP of moves permanently?

Can you increase move PP?

In every other Pokémon game that came before Legends: Arceus, items like PP Up and PP Max existed. These items would increase the max PP allowed to a certain move by 20% to a max of up to a 60% increase in PP!

Unfortunately, Legends: Arceus does not have these items and there is no way to increase the max PP of moves. Although this might pose a problem to some players, rest assured, the move reslotting technique somewhat tackles this issue and there is no shortage of rest spots in the game to keep your Pokémon fresh and ready for battle!
