NEO: The World Ends With You

How to Increase Stats in NEO: The World Ends With You

NEO: The World Ends With You is a very atypical Japanese role-playing game where mechanics that are staples of the genre have been twisted in interesting ways. This goes for the progression system as well: earning experience points by defeating Noise to level up is not enough to increase characters’ stats.

How to Increase Character Stats in NEO: The World Ends With You

As mentioned above, defeating Noise to earn experience points and level up doesn’t increase characters’ stats, as the only thing that will increase upon level up is the Max HP stat. Every other stat, Attack, Defense, and Style can only be increased by eating food. You will find many different establishments all over Shibuya that offer food that increases stats by certain amounts, and the only thing you need to do to increase stats is purchase the food and eat it. Characters that like a particular type of food may receive a Tasty bonus that enhances the food’s effects.

Unfortunately, you cannot eat food over and over in NEO: The World Ends With You. On the top right side of the screen, you will see a gauge that indicates how full your characters are, and once it goes above 100%, you cannot eat more food. To lower this gauge’s value, you will need to fight Noise. Eating food, battling the Noise, rinse and repeat will allow you to raise the stats of all your characters and prepare them for the difficult battles ahead.
