Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster

How To Level Up Quickly In Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster

The original Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne is an unforgiving JRPG, and if there is one thing that the remaster did not change, is its high difficulty level. While setting up a balanced combat party is usually more important than the current level of your main character and demons, leveling up is still a good way to make the game’s challenging battles a little easier.

Before you start your heavy grinding process, we suggest you get access to the Riberama skill. This skill, which is learned by Will o’ Wisp, Forneus, and Eligor, increases the encounter rate considerably, resulting in a random battle every two or so steps. Having this skill is not fundamental, but it can speed up the process considerably.

At the very beginning of the game, you will often feel very underpowered, and once you get defeated by Matador for the first time, you realize you need to level up a bit. If you’re in the level 10 or 20 range, you should fight Isora in the Ginza Underpass area. This demon nets you a decent amount of experience and it also drops Life Stones that can be sold for a good profit, letting you earn some welcome money on the side.

After defeating Matador and reaching Ginza, the Radio Tower Area is the best area for grinding until you reach level 13 or so. The demon parties you will encounter in this area include the Angels Archangel, Principality, and Power, which are all weak to the Mudo family of skills, resulting in some very quick battles that can earn you a decent amount of experience. Please note that they do all possess the Hama family of skills, so you should try to make your main character resistant to light in some way to avoid an early game over. If Badb Catha appears in the enemy party, consider running away if you are at a low level, as Wing Buffet deals a lot of damage to the entire party, and any demon weak to Wind will also grant the enemy a One More turn that will likely be fatal.

Another very good area for grinding, once you are past the level 30 threshold, is Kabukicho Prison. Here, you will encounter Preta, Naga, and Mizuchi, which do not have a ton of HP but still give out decent experience. If you manage to chain encounters, you will be able to earn a lot of experience with minimal effort.

Once even Kabukicho Prison becomes no good for leveling up quickly, you should move onto the Kagutsuchi Tower 3 area, floors 402F and 418. Many powerful demons of high level spawn in this area, making it ideal for grinding at level 70 and above.
