How To Level Up Your Research Level Quickly In New Pokémon Snap

New Pokémon Snap is not a role-playing game like the main entries in the series, but it is powered by some of the same mechanics that keep track of your current progress and level of photo-snapping mastery. And the higher your mastery level, the more content you will unlock.

Here’s what Research Level is and how to level it up quickly.

What Is The Research Level?

Research Level keeps track of your progress in New Pokémon Snap, and it is leveled up by earning the right amount of Expedition Points. While the current level doesn’t influence your ability to snap photos of your favorite Pokémon, it does influence the content you can access at the current time. The higher your level is, the more content you will be able to enjoy.

How To Level Up Your Research Level Quickly In New Pokémon Snap

Expedition Points are required to level up your Research Level, and you will earn them by reaching the highest possible score in each of the game’s regions. And to do so, you will have to take the best possible pictures to earn Gold or Diamond Stars.

As each entry in the Photodex includes four photos, each rated with a different number of stars depending on the difficulty, you will receive Expedition Points depending on your highest scoring photo in each of the four tiers. If you only registered one photo in a tier, you will get the full score for the photo, while taking multiple ones will result in only the point difference between the second-best and the best to be added to the total for the region the photo has been taken in.
