Eating sandwiches grants you Meal Powers that give you temporary buffs, like increasing your chance of encountering a shiny Pokémon! Recipe for Poison Type Shiny Boost Sandwich in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

When you’re out in the wilderness, and you’re on a flat surface, you can open your menu and start a picnic. Walk up to your picnic table and press A to start making sandwiches, which grant you special effects, like increasing your shiny encounter rate!

You can either use a recipe, or enter Creative Mode and build your own sandwich. You get to choose up to six fillings and four spices. The types of ingredients you pick will determine what types of Meal Powers you get and how potent they are.

Thanks to a user on the GBATemp forums by the name of The_Time_Is_Nigh, we have exact formulas on how to make the perfect sandwiches for shiny hunting.

In the case of shiny Poison type Pokémon, you’ll want to use Creative Mode and add the following ingredients, which will net you Sparkling, Title, and Encounter Power for Poison types all at level 3:

  • Noodles x 1
  • Salty Herba Mystica x 2

All normal fillings and spices can be purchased at Sure Cans, Deli Cioso, and Artisan Bakery, located at most major cities.

The Herba Mystica ingredients are found as rare drops from 5-star and above Tera Raids. 6-star Tera Raids can only be accessed once you finish the main story, and they have a higher chance to drop Herba Mystica.
