How to Make the Forgetfulness Potion in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is set in the magical wizarding world we all know and love. The RPG is full of amazing things to do as a student of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as you navigate your time as a student. There are favourite characters like Dumbledore, Hagrid, and Snape to interact with, and classes to attend. Learn how to cast spells, battle rivals, and embark on quests, and make potions. One of these potions is the Forgetfulness Potion, part of a side quest in Year 3 Chapter 4: Penny for Your Thoughts. Find out how to make it below.

How to Make a Forgetfulness Potion

During a class with Professor Sprout a werewolf suddenly appears in front of student Penny Haywood. Although the students are frightened, Professor Sprout explains that it isn’t a werewolf at all and casts the spell ‘riddikulus!’, and the werewolf turns into a cute teddy bear. It turns out the ‘werewolf’ was actually a boggart- a shapeshifting creature that turns into your worst nightmare. Professor Sprout dismisses the class so she can go and tell Dumbledore. The class are left wondering why Penny’s worst fear is a werewolf.

Your character then talks to Bill to ask if he knows what is going on, and whether it has anything to do with the Cursed Vaults. The side quest ‘Penny for Your Thoughts’ begins, and directs you to speak with Penny in the Great Hall. After you two share a meal and become friends you promise to meet her in the Potions room after curfew.

Penny and your character take Lethe River Water from the Potions classroom. Penny then asks you for the Valerian Sprigs you grew in Herbology. You meet with Penny to secretly brew the potion with three ingredients:

  • 2 drops of Lethe River Water
  • 2 Valerian Sprigs
  • 2 measures of Standard Ingredient
  • 4 Mistletoe Berries

Penny then asks you to brew the potion with her. When you are done, she declares that she is actually going to take the potion herself! After a traumatic werewolf encounter, Penny wants to forget all about it so she wants to take the Forgetfulness potion. Once you have completed this side quest you receive your rewards.
