Triangle Strategy is much more linear than some of the best tactical role-playing games released in the past like Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. For this reason, it is not possible to engage random enemies in battle by traveling all over the map.
This, however, doesn’t mean that it is not possible to train your troops in some way. Here’s how to do so via Mock Battles.
How to Play Mock Battles in Triangle Strategy
Mock Battles in Triangle Strategy are mental fights that can be played over and over. The first two Mock Battles will be unlocked in the first few Chapters of the main campaign, and more will be unlocked after you make some progress in the story.
To start a Mock Battle, you have to talk with the barkeep in your Encampment. After this is done, you will be able to choose wich battle you want to take part in. All battles come with a recommended level that does not change as the story progress, so if you want to fight stronger enemies, you need to unlock additional Mock Battles.
Even if you don’t need to grind EXP points, Mock Battles can still be useful, as you can farm items, gold and Kudos by completing them. Depending on how you perform in the battle, your rewards can also increase, so make sure to play as nicely as you can to get more items, and cut down the farming time so that you can focus on what really matters in Triangle Strategy: following the story and making the right decisions for your kingdom and your companions.
