Romancing Sebastian in Stardew Valley

In order to romance Sebastian, you’ll need to get him to like you. Make sure to talk to Sebastian at least once every day to gain a few friendship points.

At first, Sebastian will seem a bit distant and aloof, but the closer you get to him, the more he’ll open up. Talking helps, but giving him his favorite gifts is the quickest way to earn his trust.

Best Gifts for Sebastian

In Stardew Valley, you can give one gift a day, up to a total of two gifts per week, to every villager in the game. It’s important to give Sebastian two gifts every week to get him to like you quickly.

Sebastian’s Heart Events

You can check the strength of your friendship with Sebastian through the villagers menu. The more hearts you have, the stronger your friendship is with him.

Once you reach a certain amount of hearts with Sebastian, you can trigger special events known as Heart Events, which are capable of boosting your friendship even further. You’ll have to be in the right place at the right time to activate these events, so here’s a complete list.

  • ♥♥♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡: Enter Sebastian’s room when he’s home.
  • ♥♥♥♥♡♡♡♡♡♡: Head up to the mountain between 11 AM and 5 PM.
  • ♥♥♥♥♥♥♡♡♡♡: Enter Sebastian’s room when he’s home.
  • ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♡♡: Go down to the beach between 12 PM and 11 PM on a rainy day.
  • ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥: Head up to the mountain between 8 PM and 12 AM.
  • ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥: Head up to the mountain between 6 AM and 7 PM on a rainy day. The 14 Heart Events can only be seen if you’re married.

Keep giving Sebastian gifts, talk to him every day, and once he’s reached 8 Hearts, you can give him a Bouquet to start dating him. Bouquets are bought from Pierre’s shop for 200 gold.

Continue to make him happy to raise him up to 10 Hearts. Once you do so, you’ll receive a letter from Mayor Lewis that instructs you on the traditional way of proposal in Stardew Valley.

Go down to the beach on a rainy day and go to the tide pools. You’ll see the spirit of an Old Mariner, who sells you the Mermaid’s Pendant for 5,000 gold. Give the Mermaid’s Pendant to Sebastian to marry him!
