Much of the usual post-game stuff, like shiny hunting, breeding, and catching Legendaries, involves a lot of grinding and monotonous activity. Shiny hunting especially, as it requires that you encounter a Pokemon and restart your game over and over until you acquire the Shiny that you were looking for.

This is where soft resets come in, as they are the quickest way to “restart” your game to your latest save point so that you can quicken the process of such tedious activities.

How to Soft Reset in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

When we talk about the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl games, we can’t really call this method a soft reset. An actual soft reset would have your game restart with the push of a button or a combination of buttons.

This method takes a slight amount of effort, but it is the closest you will get to soft resetting in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Just follow these steps:

  • Start up either Pokemon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl
  • Press the Home Button on your Switch.
  • Press the X button to close the game.
  • Press the A button to boot up your game once again.

We realize this is more of a hard reset than a soft reset, but it’s the best you can do, as the devs have not coded in a method for soft resetting in the Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl games.
