How To Soft Reset in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

The current generation of Pokémon games has a relatively simpler way of doing soft resets than in the earlier generation games. In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, you can do a soft reset by turning off your Auto Save feature. To make sure the game no longer saves automatically.

Once you have turned off the Auto Save feature from the Options menu, you can complete the tutorial, and if you get Pokémon and stuff that you don’t like, close the game and start again. Since there is no autosave, you must play the same sequence again.

Keep repeating till you find the best starter Pokémon for yourself. Once that happens, make sure to enable the autosave feature.

For new players, here is how you can disable Autosave in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet:

  • Open Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
  • Press the A button to open the menu.
  • Select Options.
  • Navigate to Autosave and turn it off.
  • Save the changes.

And that is it. That is how you do a soft reset in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are currently available on the Nintendo Switch platform.
