From fighting off dangerous creatures and taming the largest of them, there are a lot of various animals you will come across in ARK, and in this guide, we’ll be showing you how to tame a Tropeognathus in ARK Survival Evolved. Let’s get rolling!
A Tropeognathus is one of the rarest creatures in ARK Survival Evolved as you’ll have a difficult time finding it on almost all the maps in the game. You can only find a Tropeognathus in certain places, so without further ado, here’s how to tame one.
How to Tame a Tropeognathus in ARK Survival Evolved
The first thing you’ll need to tame a Tropeognathus in ARK Survival Evolved is the map that shows you where your best chances of taming are on the ARK world. Thanks to Eternal Network, we have the map below which shows you the locations of a Tropeognathus.
After that, you’ll need to be atleast level 65 so you’ll have the ballistic turret and chain bolas unlocked. This is because the two pieces of equipment are essential for taming a Tropeognathus. Once you have those, you’ll have to bring a creative that supports a platform saddle such as Mammoth or Bronto to use the ballistic turret to shoot the Tropeognathus.
Taming the Tropeognathus in ARK Survival Evolved
Once you’ve got all the aforementioned, you then have to locate a Tropeognathus from the map. If you’re lucky enough to find one without spending a lot of time, hop on the back of your creature and aim the ballistic turret towards the Tropeognathus to take it down.
If your shot didn’t miss, the beast will go down. We suggest you place three Dino gates around it as traps so it does not escape. Once you have the Tropeognathus trapped, you’ll then have to lower Dino’s food meter to tame it. You can do this by repeatedly shooting the Tropeognathus with a chain bola and waiting for the meter to go back down. You can also get the spyglass mod which allows you to easily monitor the meter.
Lastly, you’ll need to wait until the food meter has dropped below 3,000 before you can start taming the Tropeognathus. If you feed the animal before this point, it’ll ruin the tame and you’ll have to try again. You’ll also need Seven Exceptional Kibble to tame the Tropeognathus.
