How To Unlock Levels In New Pokémon Snap

Despite not exactly being an open-world game, New Pokémon Snap is not exactly a linear experience either. Right from the start, you can decide to go wherever you want in the Lental region, but only if you have unlocked the different levels.

As being able to go wherever you want on the condition you have unlocked new levels is somewhat counterintuitive, we have put together a guide that tells you exactly what you need to do to unlock new levels in New Pokémon Snap.

How To Unlock All Levels In New Pokémon Snap

New Pokémon Snap features six different islands and 24 different courses filled with Pokémon to photograph. Courses are highly replayable thanks to the day and night system that lets you explore these locations at different times of day.

Florio Island

Florio Nature Park (Day) – Florio Island – Available from the start
Florio Nature Park (Night) – Florio Island – Get to Research Level 2 in Florio Nature Park (Day)
Florio Nature Park Illumina Spot – Florio Island – Take a picture of the Illumina Bulb in Florio Nature Park (Night)
Research Camp – Florio Island – Unlocks once you have completed a single run of Lental Seafloor Illumina Spot, Fireflow Volcano Illumina Spot.

Belusylva Island

Founja Jungle (Day) – Belusylva Island – Get to Research Level 2 in all Florio Nature Park levels and take a photo of an Illumina Meganium.
Founja Jungle (Night) – Belusylva Island – Get to Research Level 2 in Founja Jungle (Day).
Elsewhere Forest – Belusylva Island – Get to Research Level 2 in Fireflow Volcano.
Elsewhere Forest Illumina Spot – Belusylva Island – Get to Research Level 2 on Elsewhere Forest.

Maricopia Islands

Blushing Beach (Day) – Maricopia Islands – Get to Research Level 2 in both Founja Jungle levels.
Blushing Beach (Night) – Maricopia Islands – Get to Research Level 2 in Shiver Snowfields (Night).
Maricopia Reef (Day) – Maricopia Islands – Get to Research Level 2 in Blushing Beach (Day).
Lental Seafloor – Maricopia Islands – Get to Research Level 2 in Maricopia Reef (Day).
Lental Seafloor Illumina Spot – Maricopia Islands – Get to Research Level 2 on Lental Seafloor, then play the level, throw an Illumina Orb at the Clawitzer found at the start, scan the area and take the alternate path.
Maricopia Reef (Evening) – Maricopia Islands – Unlocked by complete the story.

Voluca Island

Sweltering Sands (Day) – Voluca Island – Get to Research Level 2 in both Founja Jungle levels.
Sweltering Sands (Night) – Voluca Island – Get to Research Level 2 in Sweltering Sands (Day).
Fireflow Volcano – Voluca Island – Get to Research Level 2 in Sweltering Sands (Night).
Fireflow Volcano Illumina Spot – Voluca Island – Reach Research Level 2 in Fireflow Volcano.

Durice Island

Shiver Snowfields (Day) – Durice Island – Take photos of all four Illumina Pokémon in the Florio Nature Park, Lental Seafloor, Fireflow Volcano, and Elsewhere Forest Illumina Spots.
Shiver Snowfields (Night) – Durice Island – Get to Research Level 2 on Shiver Snowfields (Day).
Outaway Cave – Durice Island – Get to Research Level 2 on Shiver Snowfields (Night).
Outaway Cave Illumina Spot – Durice Island – Get to Research Level 2 for Outaway Cave and take the alternate path that has just been opened.

Aurus Island

Ruins of Remembrance – Aurus Island – Get to Research Level 2 for Outaway Cave, play the level to access the new alternate path and take a picture of the Ancient Ruin.
Ruins of Remembrance Illumina Spot – Aurus Island – Light up all Crystabloom with Illumina Orbs in the Ruins of Remembrance
