If you’ve ever wanted to play Dead Cells as a character from Castlevania, now you can. Dead Cells, the roguelike Metroidvania game released in 2018, now has a DLC named Return to Castlevania, where you are joined by Alucard and Richter Belmont as you explore Dracula’s castle.
One of the levels will let you play as Richter himself. If you can’t figure out how to do it on your own, this guide explains how to unlock Richter mode and outfit in Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania.
How to unlock Richter Mode in Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania
If you hoped to play as Richter right from the get-go, you might be disappointed: the level where you step into Richter’s shoes comes quite late in the DLC. Players first need to get to Castle Outskirts and fight Death. In fact, you can only get to Richter in your second run, after you reach the true Dracula castle via the Clock Tower.
As you go through the castle the second time around, keep your eyes open for a unique sculpture of two people holding out to each other vertically between two columns. It looks like this portal radiates strong golden light, so it’s not easy to miss. This is the secret entrance to Richter’s holding cell, which you can open using the Cross prompt.
After you save Richter, you have to complete this run of Dracula’s castle and start the third one. On your third attempt, you need to go back to the room where Richter was held. If you interact with the prompt, you get to start the Richter Mode with changed gameplay elements.
How to get the Richter Outfit in Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania
You receive Richter’s outfit in Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania if you finish the mode where you play as Richter Belmont. This outfit stays with you, and you can equip it whenever you want later on.
We hope you don’t find all these Dracula’s castle runs too exhausting. If you do, take a break and check out our Dead Cells dedicated section for more useful info.
