In Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX, raising and training the strongest possible monsters is your main goal, and you will need all the help you can get to do so and use the monster you take care of to win tournaments and become the ultimate monster trainer.
To make your life easier while training monsters, both games allow players to upgrade their ranch. Here are all the available upgrades and what benefits you get.
How to Upgrade the Ranch in Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX
Upgrading your ranch in Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX is a little different, depending on the game, with things being slightly deeper in Monster Rancher 2 DX.
Ranch Upgrades in Monster Rancher 1 DX
In Monster Rancher 1 DX, there are two upgrade tiers for the barn and the house. The first barn upgrade will set you back 2,500 G, while the second one 12,000 G. The first house upgrade will set you back 2,000 G while the second 8,000. Upgrading the two facilities will allow you to raise bigger monsters and give you more storage space for your items, and both will make your life considerably easier.
Ranch Upgrades in Monster Rancher 2 DX
In Monster Rancher 2 DX, you can upgrade both the stable and the house again as well as the Altar. This time around, however, upgrades are considerably more costly.
The Stable can be upgraded twice, for 15,000 G and for 30,000 G, increasing the available space and allowing you to raise and train bigger monsters. The two upgrades become available after reaching Breeder Rank 4 and winning one of the Major 4 battles.
The House can be upgraded four times for 5,000, 8,000, 12,000 and 20,000 G respectively. Every upgrade increases the total item storage space. You unlock upgrades by getting to Breeder Rank 3, 5 and 6 and winning the second Major 4 battle.
The Altar can be upgraded twice, for 5,000 and 8,000 G, and upgrading it is required to unlock the Ghost breed. So, if you’re aiming to see everything Monster Rancher 2 DX has to offer, you will have to purchase the upgrades even if they do little else.
