Leveling up characters isn’t the only way to make them stronger in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. The game features a deep weapon upgrading system that can make each and every character a true powerhouse.
This weapon upgrade system is not all as straightforward as it may seem at first glance, so you may have some trouble getting the best weapon to decimate the enemy horde and survive the calamity that is set to devastate Hyrule. Lucky for you, you have come to the right place: here’s everything there is to know about the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity weapon upgrade system.
Unlocking the Blacksmith
All weapon upgrading is performed at the Blacksmith, which is not available right from the start. Thankfully, it is extremely simple to unlock it: just check the area to the east of Hyrule Castle in Central Hyrule to highlight the quest. It is a very simple item delivery quest, so it is likely you already have the items needed to unlock the Blacksmith and let the weapon upgrading fun begin.
Weapon Fusion
Upgrading weapons in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is done via weapon fusion. The basics are incredibly simple: all you need to do is pick the weapon you want to power-up, then pick the weapons that will be fused together with the first one. Before going ahead with the fusion, you can check out how the weapon will improve with the fusion, so you can just stop the whole thing if the results aren’t satisfactory. Also, remember that you need Rupees for each weapon fusion, so make sure to stock up before starting.
If the weapon getting powered-up doesn’t feature a Seal, the first fusion will unlock one.
Seals
Weapon Seals are unique skills that can make the weapon even more effective. The first Seal is always assigned randomly, but there is a way to add additional Seals with weapon fusion. All you need to do is fuse weapons with the desired seal when they are at level 5, 10, 15, and 20 to pass on the seal to your main weapon. Please note that only the seal of the first weapon selected for fusion will pass on its seal to the main weapon.
A very good way to make Seals more effective is to pass on Seals of the same shape. The four shapes are Square, Round, Hexagonal and Star.
