A new item has been launched in Fortnite: the Grapple Glove. A mix between a grapple gun and Spider-Man’s Web Slinger, this glove is a great way to get around the map. It grants the ability to swing from trees and between structures with ease, gathering speed as you go. Find out more below to find out how to use Grapple Gloves in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3!
Finding and Using the Grapple Gloves in Fortnite
The Grapple Gun can only be found at Grapple Stops around the map. These are purple spots with a big arrow above them, containing purple toolboxes. The purple toolboxes give you the exclusive Grapple Gun and a bit of random ammo.
The Grapple Spots can be found in these areas:
- Near the main road, south of The Joneses
- On a floating platform between two of the little eastern islands
- By the crossroads east of The Daily Bugle
- By the road east of Synapse Station
- By the river north of Rocky Reels
- Southwest of Greasy Grove near mushrooms
- At the Rave Cave near the disco and pool
- Near the Seven Outpost north of Logjam Lumberyard
- East of Shifty Shafts on the cliff
- By the intersection between Tilted Towers and Coney Crossroads

Using the Grapple Glove is as easy as using the Web Slinger from last season. You must find a surface to latch onto, indicated by the Grapple Glove with a white target, and fire the glove at this point. The Grapple Gove will shoot out a line, cling to that surface, and pull you towards it. You will then swing outwards, releasing the grapple action, and ready to fire onto another surface.
The Grapple Gun has 30 charges that must be used up before you pick up a new Grapple Gun. You cannot swap a half-used Grapple Gun for a fully-charged one, you will still only have the charges you had to start with.
Each time you successfully latch and swing you gain a little speed up until your third swing- this is when you are at top speed. If you miss a latch on there is a short cooldown until you can begin swinging again. Each cooldown depends on how many swings you have managed:
- 1 Swing – 5 second cooldown
- 2 Swings – 10 second cooldown
- 3 Swings – 15 second cooldown
Landing from a swing into a slide increases the time between the next swing and the upcoming cooldown window. It essentially means a slide does not count as ‘landing’ straight away, and you can begin swinging immediately.
It is also possible to use the Grapple Glove to latch onto and pull items toward you, like you would with a Harpoon Gun or Fishing Rod. These do not count as uses so do not deplete charges.
Use the Grapple Gun to get out of sticky situations quickly, or to move safely out of the storm and into the safe zone.
We hope this guide has helped you find and use a Grapple Gun easily in Fortnite! Let us know in the comments below if you like this new addition to the Fortnite load-out. Good luck.
