Over the years, Clash of Clans has become quite the powerhouse of a mobile game. One of the aspects of this game that kept it fresh was the constant updating and events introduced occasionally in the game. One such update was the Clashiversary update which introduced Shrink Traps.

Shrink Traps

The Shrink Trap is one of the events for the Clash of Clans Clashiversary update, introduced Witch Builder. The Shrink Trap itself is a new type of trap that allows players to shrink and slow enemy troops that attack their base, severely crippling them by reducing their hitpoints and damage, albeit for a short duration of time.

Let’s go over the Shrink Trap and how to use it effectively in battle!

Shrink Trap Strategy

After placing a Shrink Trap, the ground around it will have an orange aura, indicating that it is active. Now, the only thing left to do is to trigger it. Any passing enemies will do that and upon walking into the Shrink Traps’ aura, they will be visibly smaller with the aforementioned HP and damage reduction debuffs. All of this lasts for a good 20 seconds until the troops return to normal.

The best strategy here would be to place Shrink Traps wherever the player has a lot of defensive buildings active. The reasoning for this is that Shrink Traps do not really do any damage by themselves, so they are reliant on other sources damaging the enemy after the debuff.

To counter Shrink Traps, try hovering around tightly compacted defensive areas since there would be a good chance of a Shrink Trap being there. Once its location is confirmed, ready a Rage or Haste spell to keep the player’s troops moving throughout. If the troops’ HP drops low, keeping a Heal spell ready doesn’t hurt either.
