How to Use the Dark Magician Deck in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links is a game based on the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime and manga franchise. It is a card collecting battle-type game released for Android, iOS and Steam (for PC players).

Recommended Videos

The core gameplay mechanic revolves around players building their own decks and using them to battle other players. The deck-building aspect is left up to the players’ imagination, but some deck types stand out more than the rest.

Today, we will be talking about one of them, namely, the Dark Magician Deck.

Dark Magician Deck

Dark Magician is a fan-favorite deck type that centers around the main character’s ace card, Dark Magician from the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime.

Over the past year, this deck type has skyrocketed in popularity with cards like Dark Magical Circle and Magician Navigation, which when combined, allows the player to swarm the field and banish an opponent’s card during either player’s turn.

Advantages

A huge advantage of this deck type is that it matches up great against many of the meta control decks like Gouki, Shiranui, and Invoked Magician Girls, due to its ability to overwhelm the opponent with two relatively large monsters and banish a card off the field during either player’s turn. In addition to all of that, it also has Spell/Trap negates to counter most of the disruptions.

Disadvantages

One downside of this deck type is that because it takes a turn to set up their combo, players tend to struggle against the aggressive decks of the meta like Blackwings and HEROS, especially since they play large amounts of backrow removal with Cosmic Cyclone while also applying a lot of early-game pressure on their first turn.

While backrow removal is annoying for most control strategies, it’s especially devastating against this particular deck type, as part of what makes this deck viable is the Circle, and most anti-backrow cards can compromise its utility.
