In our Idle Digging Tycoon tips and tricks, we will go over how to maximize your digging and workers effectively so that you can get through the dig sites in a timely manner. Let’s get started with our Idle Digging Tycoon tips and tricks strategy guide to digging fast!

The Three Basics of Digging

Your workers have three main stats to them: profit, speed, and worker, and indicated by the main upgrade options at the bottom of the screen. Profit determines how much money a worker makes you whenever they dig up a block of dirt. Speed determines how quickly they can get through a block of dirt. Finally, worker increases the number of workers on the field.

All three upgrades are crucial to digging at a sufficient speed, so make sure you are upgrading all of them evenly.

Worker Upgrades

At level 3 you gain access to worker upgrades. Just like the basic upgrades, worker upgrades come in three different flavors: power, stamina, and critical dig chance.

Power determines how much dirt they dig up in one dig. Stamina determines how many blocks workers can dig up before they have to rest. Critical dig chance gives your works a chance to “critically dig,” which takes out a big chunk of the dirt block they’re on, if not taking it out completely.

No Resting on the Job!

Your workers will continue to dig until they are completely exhausted. Once they are out of stamina, they will automatically head back out of the quarry and take a well-deserved nap. But… since we are trying to get work done here, you can just wake them right back up!

When you have workers sleeping, a button will appear over the worker upgrades button. Tapping will make all currently sleeping workers get back to work. Make sure you check in often, as your workers will tire out pretty quickly until you start getting the stamina upgrades.

Alternatively, you can hire an overseer to watch over your workers. Every time you level up, there is a chance he will appear, and you need to watch an advertisement in order to activate him. He will watch over your workers and ensure that they continue to work for a short period of time.

Spruce up the Place with Ornaments

When you have dug up a certain amount of the area, your completion rate will increase. When your completion rate is high enough, you will be able to unlock ornaments which are decorations for the structure you are building in the quarry.

Ornaments do not have an in-game effect, they are merely for decoration, but it is fun to do! You unlock most of them as you are approaching the end of the level anyways, so it is not really a big deal if you unlock them or not. They are just there for people who like to customize their stuff.

Moving onto the next Zone

When your workers finally dig their way to the bottom of the quarry, your completion rate will hit 100% and you will be done with the zone. Once a zone is completed, you cannot really do anything else but move on to the next one. You can purchase any ornaments you have missed if you so desire.

To check your current completion progress, just look at the progress bar on the location list. As your workers make their way to the bottom of the pit, your progress will go up, and you can only move on once you hit 100%.

To speed things up, make sure that you are constantly buying the general upgrades and the worker upgrades to ensure that everyone is working at optimal efficiency. And of course, you can manually tap to speed up the workers.

Like a lot of idle games, Idle Digging Tycoon bombards you with a plethora of different advertisement offers that provide you with a big boost of some sort. We have compiled them all here in this list so that you can decide which ones are worth your time.

  • Special helper boosts like the Giant and the Overseer can be summoned after you watch an advertisement. The Giant will demolish large chunks of dirt, drastically speeding up the progress with the dig. The Overseer, as mentioned before, will ensure that your workers keep digging even if you do not come back to wake them up. These boosts are pretty helpful as they keep your quarry going when you are away.
  • Leveling up grants you a large sum of gold, but you can triple it by watching an advertisement. You can even multiply it by x5 if you pay gems!
  • Spinning the wheel of fortune requires watching an advertisement. You have the chance of getting a large amount of gems or gold from the wheel.
  • You can get two work speed boosters from the shop, but you must watch an advertisement to get them. Speed boosters effectively double your gold income for a short period of time.
  • When your workers are digging through the pit, they may come across a gold ore node or diamond ore node. These nodes can be mined for a large amount of that resource, but as expected you have to watch an advertisement to do so.

Those are all of the offers we could find. We recommend activating the special helper boosts, because their powers can really speed things up. The Overseer in particular is very helpful if you have not upgraded your workers’ stamina that much and you are away from the game often.

Leave the Game open with Sound on

If you want to keep a very close eye on your workers but you do not want to activate the Overseer, then we have an easy solution for you! Simply leave the game open and running, but also leave your sound on.

Your workers make a very audible digging sound when they are working, and when your game goes near silent save for the chirping of some birds, then you know you need to come back and wake them up. Just hit that snooze button and your workers will get right back to work. Simple as that!

Prioritize Stamina if you will Idle a lot

If you prefer to play the game idly and keep it closed, then we highly recommend you invest a lot of gold into the stamina upgrade. The aforementioned stamina upgrade increases the time your workers will dig, saving them from having to stop and rest.

When your workers finish and start resting, they will stay resting until you open the game again and wake them up. To minimize the amount of times you need to do this, simply purchase a bunch of stamina upgrades to ensure you get the most out of your workers’ stamina pools.

Keep tapping away

That is about it for Idle Digging Tycoon. Prioritize your upgrades, earn lots of gold, and keep upgrading your main upgrades and worker upgrades. The last thing we can recommend is the way of tapping.

As you know, tapping the screen will make your workers speed up slightly and work faster. You do not need to tap very fast – simple light taps will do just fine. Do not feel the need to constantly be tapping the screen, just do it when you have a free moment as it really helps boost your workers.
