In today’s article, we are going to take a look at some of the best units in Illusion Connect and give you a complete Illusion Connect tier list. I’m going to cover every single character in-game and rank them up according to their strength. Also, if you’re not sure what heroes to look out for when summoning, this tier list should help clear things out.
So, without further ado, here’s the Illusion Connect Tier List:
Updates: We’ve added all the characters last released (Kichou, Muneharu and Kanata).
Illusion Connect: SS Tier Units
Yuffie
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Sorcerer
– Unit Type: AoE Damage
At the moment she is one of the strongest AoE characters in the game. If you get her early on, make sure you keep her and try to upgrade her as much as possible. It’s also ideal if you can build a team around Yuffie, so she can activate her Passive. Furthermore, with the Soul Reaper Leader she will benefit from a lot of AoE damage.
Miyuki
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Spell
– Unit Type: AoE Damage
Similar to Yuffie, Miyuki has some really amazing AoE. She is also able to decrease the target enemy’s rage with her Passive, which makes her a great all-rounded character. If you manage to get her from the very start, she’s definitely a keeper. I’d say that Miyuki is good for all team compositions because her AoE skill will decrease all the enemy’s rage, and if you manage to get her weapon, Fortune Caller, she will be unstoppable and the enemy will never cast.
Kasumi
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Attack
– Unit Type: Massive Damage, Steals Buffs, Burst
She can’t be obtained in the early stages of the game, but she is definitely a unit that is worth aiming for later on. Her “single” target burst damage is insane, and she relies heavily on Crits and debuffs. She can steal enemy buffs/shields/etc and can be considered one of the best end-game units.
Kichou
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Attack
– Unit Type: Massive Damage, Extra Crit, Burst, Leader Killer
Kichou seems to be a very powerful unit at first glance. When she’s summoned she will automatically deploy Saya, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. She’s also got massive burst damage to destroy the enemy Leader, much like Kasumi.
Anna
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Healer
– Unit Type: Heal, Single Target Damage
She’s probably the strongest healer currently available in the game. She has AoE heals, can restore Rage to herself, and can also buff the entire team’s ATK if her Combat Passive is activated.
Nicola
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Sorcerer
– Unit Type: AoE Damage
She’s not that strong early on in the game, but she is still going to wreak havoc if you team her up with Yuffie and other Sorcerers. However, after you upgrade her a little bit, she is an amazing unit which can probably 1-shot many enemy Leaders.
Phoebe
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Light
– Unit Type: AoE Damage, Immunity
She’s super powerful for a couple of reasons: 1 – she can give immunity to allies whenever you deploy her, and 2 – she does really good AoE damage. If you pair her up with Diamond, she will basically make your Leader immune for a whole 40 seconds.
Hachi Shiki
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Sorcerer
– Unit Type: AoE Damage, AoE Stun, Reduce enemy DMG RES
Her kit is quite powerful, for a number of reasons. Hachi Shiki can not only deal massive AoE damage but also inflict AoE stuns and reduce the enemy’s DMG RES. Overall, she’s amazing in a team with Sorcerers.
Seeger
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Spell
– Unit Type: Single Target damage, Column Damage, AoE damage, Repeated Damage if she kills, True Damage, Ignores DMG RES, DEF and Block.
I have to say that it was about time a new viable Spell partner would be released! Apart from Miyuki, there are no other Spell units that are really impactful, so Seeger seems to be one that will really make a difference.
Judging from the skill description, her kit is extremely powerful. She could be considered the equivalent of Kasumi, but for the Spell class.
Domessa
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Guardian
– Unit Type: Block, DMG Mitigation, a LOT of shielding
At the moment, Domessa seems like a really great unit when it comes to mitigating a lot of damage. However, it will take a lot of summons to make her 5* or 6*, but once she reaches that point, she will be able to deal with pretty much any type of incoming damage.
Kanata
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Attack
– Unit Type: AoE Line Damage, Restores Rage, A lot of Damage (similar to Kasumi)
Illusion Connect: S Tier Units
Nefir
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Sorcerer
– Unit Type: AoE Damage, HP Recovery, Grants an ally immunity to death
Nefir is going to be a great addition to a Sorcerer team. Once she is starred up, she will deal massive damage, and provide useful buffs to allies, such as death RES. She can “swap” her HP with opponents’ (with the opponent with the highest HP), which makes her quite annoying to deal with in PvP arenas.
At the start, she won’t be that great, similar to Nicola, but once she’s got to at least 4 stars, she will start showing up.
Grant
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Guardian
– Unit Type: Nulls Enemy Crits, Reduces AoE Damage, Single Target DMG
Gemmy
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Attack
– Unit Type: Single Target Damage, Revive, Lifesteal
Gemmy is another unit that’s not available early on in the game, but is extremely powerful. She is super difficult to kill, especially given the fact that she can give Lifesteal to an ally, she can revive herself and can basically one-shot (almost) anyone.
Selena
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Guardian
– Unit Type: Single Target Damage, Leader Heal, Immunity, Shield
Vivian
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Sorcerer
– Unit Type: Single Target Damage, DEF Boost, Decreased Energy
Maki
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Attack
– Unit Type: Single Target Damage, Burst Damage
Kiraya
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Guardian
– Unit Type: Shield, Single Target Damage,
Gagaku
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Summon
– Unit Type: Summons Foxes, AoE in a Line
Rikia
– Rarity: SR
– Class: Spell
– Unit Type: AoE Damage, Dispel Debuffs, Place Debuffs, Single Target Damage
Pan
– Rarity: SR
– Class: Attack
– Unit Type: Single Target (Massive) Damage,
Rotania
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Sorcerer
– Unit Type: Massive AoE Damage
Hersey
* Hersey is a girl for those wondering
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Attack
– Unit Type: Single Target Damage, AoE Damage
Fenebeth
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Sorcerer
– Unit Type: AoE Damage, Curse, Poison
Fenebeth is a really amazing AoE unit, that you can acquire from the very beginning. She has a very strong AoE clear, she can inflict poison, and she inflicts a curse on the enemies that converts the heal they get into damage instead. That alone makes her a truly OP unit whenever an opponent has an Anna, who is broken in terms of healing (especially in the later stages of the game).
Sakai
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Guardian
– Unit Type: AoE Damage, fast attacks (rally all allies), reduces Energy consumption, buffs Guardian partners, Rage recovery
Sakai will be a really, really good addition to a Guardian party. He is able to reduce the cost of the units (which is a plus, considering some of the Guardians have a very high cost), and with the addition of Rage recovery he will be easily an S-tier partner.
Muneharu
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Attack
– Unit Type: True Damage, Ignores Block/DEF, Single Target DMG, AoE DMG
Illusion Connect: S-/A+ Tier Units
Ion
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Light
– Unit Type: Single Target damage, AoE damage, Scaling damage per attack
Astaroth
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Spell
– Unit Type: Single Target damage, AoE damage, Leader heal, pairs up well with Barinas.
Ashwaya
* She is quite difficult to play – you need to know exactly when to place her, so she won’t block the spot for other units, and use her summons to block attacks or slowly chip away at the enemy.
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Summon
– Unit Type: Summons that Attack
She recently received a buff, which makes her summons strong against Sorcerer comp (which is meta at the moment). However, you need to find a way to position her in such a way that you won’t block your slots and can still deploy some units.
The Enforcers
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Summon
– Unit Type: Single Target Damage, Taunt, Less Energy
Saya
– Rarity: SSR (after a few upgrades)
– Class: Attack
– Unit Type: Single Target Damage
Nina
– Rarity: SSR (after a few upgrades)
– Class: Sorcerer
– Unit Type: AoE Damage in a Line, Increased DMG Rate, Increased Crit Rate
Edward
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Attack
– Unit Type: Singel Target Damage, Steal Buffs, Steal Rage
Angela
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Guardian
– Unit Type: Single Target Damage, Barrier, Taunt, Revive
Victoria
– Rarity: SSR (after a few upgrades)
– Class: Guardian
– Unit Type: Single Target Damage, Shield, Taunt
Ann
– Rarity: SR
– Class: Summon
– Unit Type: Summon, Single Target Damage, DMG RES
Annie
– Rarity: SR
– Class: Guardian
– Unit Type: DMG RES, MAX HP, Single Target DMG, Single Target Stun
Annis Dora
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Summon
– Unit Type: Summons, Grants Buffs to Summons, Grants Random Buffs to Allies or Random Debuffs to Enemies
Berial
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Guardian
– Unit Type: Decrease enemy DMG Rate, provides Barrier for Leader and allies, goes great with Light Paladin and Spirit Healer Leaders because it gives extra buffs to Guardian units.
Diana
* Could be S+ depending on team comp and Awakening
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Heal
Sakura Minamoto
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Spell
Illusion Connect: A Tier Units
Ai Mizuno
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Sorcerer
– Unit Type: AoE Damage, Crowd Control (Paralysis), Reduce Enemy DEF
Eileen
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Light
– Unit Type: Support, Buffs DMG RES, Stuns Enemy/Enemies, Ignores DEF
At the moment she is only available through Great Fortune (the $10 pass), and she is a unit that can synergize exceptionally well with Charlotte. She does AoE damage with her Unique skill, and can stun 1+ enemies (at 4* she will stun 2+ enemies).
Think of her stun as something similar to a lotto, but instead, it does damage and stuns. At 6* she will be super powerful since she will increase the DMG RES Rate and penetrate enemy DEF.
Charlotte
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Light
– Unit Type: Marks enemies, Deals 2x Damage to marked enemies, can be very tanky with Eileen
I’ll start by saying that she has a very interesting kit. She basically does 2x damage to enemies that kill allies, and restores Rage whenever she does so. If you build her tanky, she can become a monster, especially if you also have Eileen.
Ludwig
– Rarity: SR
– Class: Guardian
(I was debating whether he is worthy of S-tier, but for now he will sit in A-tier – I believe all the SSR partners with Awakening can have a lot more impact than him.)
Kristine
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Light
Cubie
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Light
– Unit Type: Single Target damage, AoE Damage, Stun
Abby
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Attacker
– Unit Type: Single Target damage, Crowd Control (Stun), Extra Damage to Sorcerer, and Attack Class.
Brooke
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Light
– Unit Type: Single Target Damage, Row AoE Damage, Faster Casting (when paired with Guardians and Healers)
She is amazing if you want a reliable DPS for the Light Paladin Leader/Spirit Healer Leader. You’ll need to place her in a team with Guardians and Healers since she will gain increased damage for every Guardian on the field. Additionally, with every heal that she gets she has a chance to cast her Unique skill, which is row AoE. She’s really good if you have tanky units and manage to keep them alive all through the fights.
Ming
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Heal
Diamond
* Could be S-tier depending on team comp
– Rarity: SR
– Class: Heal
Gigi
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Attack
Barinas
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Guardian
Camille
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Guardian
Sachiko
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Guardian
Hotaru
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Attack
Beatrice
– Rarity: SR
– Class: Spell
Jason
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Heal
He is very situational – he can revive, but the heal comes nowhere close to Anna’s or Diana’s.
Illusion Connect: B Tier Units
Junko Konno
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Heal
Yasmine
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Guardian
– Unit Type: Reduces DMG Rate for enemies, Gains Shield
Lunar
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Attacker
– Unit Type: AoE damage, Very low Energy to deploy, decent damage
Lunar is a great unit to pair up with generally any team. Lunar needs only 1 Energy to be deployed if all the units that have died (Summons and Partners) reach at least 6, so it’s a good partner to add to pretty much any team, especially high-cost ones.
Emma
– Rarity: SR
– Class: Sorcerer
– Unit Type: Column damage, Crowd Control (Stun), Self-ATK-increase
Yume
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Attack
– Unit Type: Decrease enemy Rage, Single Target Damage, Increases Penetration for Partners
At the moment, Yume is only available through the Great Fortune pass, which means she’s not a f2p character. Her skills are pretty cool, and you’ve already played against her in the normal Dreams and Arcana. However, as she is, at 3*, she is not that amazing.
From what I can tell, Yume is going to really start shining only after she hits 5*, because then she will give the entire team 25% DEF Penetration. She is similar to Miyuki in a way, except that she’s single target and very much p2w.
Amon

– Class: Light
Jasmine
– Rarity: SSR
– Class: Heal

Chiyo

– Rarity: R
– Class: Spell
Illusion Connect: D Tier Units
Harto
– Rarity: SR
– Class: Light
Mia
