The App Store has announced the Top 3 games of the year this week. Every year, the App Store editors take all the Editors’ Choices and pick the winner. Three very different games are the top three, but only one can emerge victorious. This year’s winner is:
Badland
Badland, by developer Frogmind, is the game of the year on the App Store. This award winning action game is full of innovated physics, fun single and multiplayer action, and beautiful graphics. Given top scores by most reviewers, it is not a surprise this game won game of the year. For those interested, pick it up on the App Store and prepare yourself for one of the best mobile games of the year.
What about the runners up? Players will be pleased with the choices the editors made.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
The award PC and console game, and Golden Joystick Game of the Year winner is the first runner up this year. XCOM: Enemy Unknown takes strategy games to the next level. Players recruit, train, and upgrade a group of soldiers as they take on an alien threat. Will you protect the Earth or will you fail the population?

Impossible Road
The minimalist, arcade driving game Impossible Road is the second runner up in this year’s challenge. Players guide the Vessel down a very roller coaster like track, earning points for going through gates. Navigate twists and turns, jumps and curves as you try not to fall off the track. Can you figure out the game’s secrets and control the leader board?
The editors made great choices this year. Don’t forget to check out the many other games that have been released this year that didn’t make it!
