How to Check Dota 2 Sever Status

Since Dota 2 is a big part of Valve’s game line-up, its server status is actually listed on the Unofficial Steam Status website. This website lists the status of various Steam components, including the store, community, and of course the games.

If you play any of Valve’s mainline games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Team Fortress 2, and of course Dota 2, we highly recommend bookmarking this page for quick reference. You can conveniently tell if things are going haywire, or if the issue is on your end.

For Dota 2 specifically, you’ll want to look at the status of the Dota 2 Game Coordinator, which is on the left side of the status tracker. If the status is Normal, you’re good to go, but anything else, there might be something going on.

If you don’t want to use the Unofficial Steam Status website, you can also just check out the official Dota 2 Twitter account. They’ll post any updates about potential server issues here.

For the instance of today (November 3), the servers were having issues deploying the update, leading to slow speeds and disconnects. The reason for all this traffic is that the new Battle Pass: Part II – Diretide update was released.

This major update includes two technical changes for Dota 2 going forward. NVIDIA Reflex is now officially supported on GTX 900 cards and above, and this update will be the last version of Dota 2 to support the OpenGL renderer. If you haven’t already, it’s time to move to one of the stronger renderers.

That concludes our guide on checking Dota 2 server status. We hope that answers your questions of Dota 2 being down, and if you have anymore, let us know in the comments below!
