Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is a role-playing video game developed and published by Jam City under license from Portkey Games. The game is set in the Wizarding World and based on the Harry Potter novels written by J.K. Rowling.
The game was released for Android and iOS on April 25, 2018. Players praised its free-roam settings throughout Hogwarts with an underlying original plot looming in the background. There are a lot of entertaining features added in between the main story to make the game more engaging for players.
There are a lot of new characters introduced to the game. From the new cast of characters, today we will be shining the spotlight on Merula Snyde.
Merula Snyde
Merula Snyde was a witch who began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She was born in 1973, joined Hogwarts in 1984 and was sorted into Slytherin house. Merula often antagonised Jacob’s sibling during their time in Hogwarts and remained a persistent rival to them throughout the years.
Merula’s mother and father were Death Eaters who supported Lord Voldemort. At some point, Merula witnessed them in conflict with an Auror which led to the death of the Auror. This allowed her to see Thestrals.
After Voldemort’s apparent death in 1981, Merula’s parents were captured for their committed crimes and sent to Azkaban between 1983 and 1984; Merula witnessed their trial, which upset and traumatized her. Her mother, being a member of the Frog Choir in her youth, frequently sang to her until her arrest, though she would keep this a secret out of insecurity.
Love Interest?
For players that enjoy Merula’s quirks and mannerisms, rejoice! As of the update where dating was first introduced, Merula Snyde was also added as a possible love interest for players.
Players can now go on dates with Merula at Hagrid’s Garden and eventually the Courtyard in the Castle. Each date increases players’ affection rate with her up to a total of 5 levels.
