Is Sand Tunnelling Returning to Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4?

Find out here if Sand Tunnelling is making a comeback to the next season of Fortnite coming in September 2022.

Sand tunnelling was a mechanic introduced to Fortnite during Chapter 2 Season 5, the season that brought Colossal Coliseum and Butter Barn to the map. Players could stand for a moment on any area of sand and slowly sink in, forming a small lump under the surface. From there players were able to move around indefinitely, making a sandy whooshing noise as they went. Is Sand Tunnelling Coming Back?

Sand tunnelling in Fortnite was a really fun way to get about on the sandy areas. The parts of the map that had a lot of sand were bare with little cover, so left the player pretty exposed and could be quite dangerous.

Rumours have been flying among the community about a version of sand tunnelling coming to the upcoming season of Fortnite. Leaks has shown a teaser of Chapter 3 Season 4, including Spider Gwen in the Battle Pass, dirt bike vehicle added, and a brand new way of tunnelling through the ground.

Just like sand tunnelling, this new way of getting around should give players the chance to sink into an inky layer of the ground, and roll through the goo much like we could roll through the sand in Chapter 2 Season 5 and 6.

As the new season begins in mid-September, Epic have said it will begin with spooky themes in time for Halloween in October. Fortnitemares will also be making a comeback for the end of October.
