Modern Sonic games have upped the ante in this regard, building the entire experience around the ability to control Sonic’s friends as well, such as Tails and Knuckles. Is it the same in Sonic Colors: Ultimate? Let us find out.

Is Tails Playable in Sonic Colors: Ultimate?

Tails does appear in Sonic Colors: Ultimate, but sadly, he is not playable in any way, as the entire experience has been built upon Sonic’s ability to Boost, which has always been unique to him ever since its introduction, and the Wisp Powers. The only thing Tails can do in the game is help Sonic via the new Tails Save mechanics, which allow him to save Sonic from death and prevent him from losing all rings.

If you’re aiming to get an S rank at the end of any stage, however, you will have to complete it without Tails’ help, as using Tails Save will make A rank the highest achievable rank for that specific run.
