The Callisto Protocol is a game that recreates the bloody horrors of Dead Space but with a gratifyingly gruesome story where you get to play as Jason Lee and must try to escape from a facility that’s overrun by lunatics.
Everything is thick and gross in a palpable way that makes the game’s graphics and visuals look ultra-realistic. However, a lot of players have been asking questions about the game’s multiplayer aspect and co-op mode in general. So is The Callisto Protocol co-op? Let’s answer that in this article.
Is The Callisto Protocol Co-Op? Answered
Taking heavy inspiration from the Dead Space franchise with a reputation for being gruesome and horror, The Callisto Protocol is currently not co-op and does not support multiplayer in any way for now and there’s no official word from the developers of adding this feature in the future.
And according to the Stream listing for The Callisto Protocol, the game is solely a single-player game but has a lot of features that players would make a lot of players think that it has some multiplayer elements. Such as the little disclaimer on the Steam page that states the game incorporates 3rd-party DRM software, mainly Denuvo Anti-Tamper.
This isn’t unheard of for single-player titles and DRM is typically seen as a point of controversy for PC games on different platforms, so it does open the door for some sort of multiplayer experience to make its way to The Callisto Protocol. Also, the game has a confirmed season pass that’s also uncommon for a single-player game these days.
Ultimately, this doesn’t confirm that there is a co-op multiplayer mode in The Callisto Protocol. And while that is disappointing for a lot of players, there are also a lot of players out there who will have a great time playing the game with or without co-op multiplayer.
And as aforementioned, co-op multiplayer for The Callisto Protocol isn’t out of the table just yet and could be implemented in the future. But for now, it’s a single-player survival game that’s also a lot of fun.
The Callisto Protocol is currently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC.
