Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: How to Unlock Abilities

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy may be a linear game, compared to many other modern action-adventure games, but this doesn’t mean that the Guardians’ combat capabilities cannot be improved during the course of the game.

By completing combat scenarios, you will receive experience points that will let you gain Ability Points that can be used to make your Guardians more powerful. Here’s how to.

How to Unlock Abilities in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

While only Star-Lord is playable in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the other Guardians come with their own unique fighting styles and different abilities that make them an asset in combat. As such, you will have to unlock abilities not only for Star-Lord but for your entire team as well.

Every time you complete a combat encounter, you will receive a set amount of Experience Points. Once you reach 1,000 points, you will get one Ability Point that can be used to unlock abilities. Ability Points are shared between the Guardians, so you will have to make a choice every time you get one.

To unlock abilities, all you need to do is open the Guardians menu, select a character, highlight an ability and hold the A button to unlock it. All Guardians only have four abilities, so it won’t take long to unlock all of them by simply playing the game and clearing battles. If you want to speed up the process, you will have to earn more Experience by performing better in combat.
