Metroid Dread features a vast array of upgrades that help Samus not only fight off the dangerous creatures found on planet ZDR but also destroy blocks and reach previously unreachable areas.

Among these upgrades is a special one that is obtained alongside the useful Speed Booster ability, Shinespark. Here’s how to get it and how to use it properly.

How to Get Shinespark in Metroid Dread

Metroid Dread

As mentioned above, the Shinespark upgrade is obtained alongside the Speed Booster upgrade. To get both of them, you will have to take down the Yellow E.M.M.I. in Dairon. Enter the E.M.M.I. zone in the area, locate and destroy the Central Unit to unlock the Omega Cannon, take down the E.M.M.I. protection with the Omega Stream, and unleash the Blaster to destroy the enemy. Speed Booster and Shinespark will become yours after the E.M.M.I. has been defeated.

How to Use Shinespark

Shinespark is a very useful ability that propels Samus in any direction at amazing speed. This ability is required to further explore planet ZDR, so you will have to master it to proceed. To use Shinespark, activate Speed Booster and then press down on the left stick to charge the ability. While Samus is surrounded by the Shinespark aura, you can press the B button to propel her in the air.

Shinespark can also be chained when used against a ramp or a slope, as they allow for an instant Speed Booster activation, and it can even be used while in Morph Ball form. This upgrade has so many uses that it is, without a doubt, one of the best available in the entire game
