Metroid Dread: Where to Go After Getting Spin Boost

Right after landing on planet ZDR in Metroid Dread, Samus Aran is attacked by a mysterious creature. Instead of killing her, however, this creature takes all of her special abilities with her, forcing her to obtain them again to be able to explore the planet fully and destroy every enemy in her path.

At some point, Samus will recover the Spin Boost ability in the Ghavoran area, but the game doesn’t provide much guidance on what to do next. Here’s where to go once you acquire this ability.

Where to Go After Getting the Spin Boost Ability in Metroid Dread

The Spin Boost ability allows Samus to perform a double jump and thus reach previously inaccessible areas, but without the Gravity Suit, this is only possible on the ground and not underwater, as the game highlights in a quick tutorial.

This tutorial makes what to do after getting the ability a little confusing, as there is seemingly no way to get back to previous areas and use the Spin Boost ability to continue exploring ZDR. In actuality, you need to use the ability underwater to slightly extend the distance covered by the regular jump.

After obtaining the Spin Boost, use it to reach the Morph Ball Shoot on the top right side of the room, activate it to get sent underwater. Here, you need to use Spin Boost to jump on the left side of the room and proceed upward. While it is true that you cannot gain altitude when using the ability underwater without the Gravity Suit, it’s possible to use the ability to slightly extend your jump, enough to reach the platform on the left side and proceed. The timing can be a little strict, but with a little practice, you should have no trouble moving on.
