The year of 2023 is tipped to become a big one for gamers on all platforms, as we look forward to getting our hands on some of the most anticipated titles of the last few years. Some are already out, like Square Enix’s Forspoken, which has already made its way to PC and PS5 and is already being called out by some as a strong GoTY contender.
However, there are lots more on the way, including Minecraft Legends, a hybrid action and strategy game that you can play from a third-person perspective. In this game, players take control of a hero who must protect the Overworld from an invasion by inhabitants of the Nether. So in this article, we’ll be going over the juicy details regarding Minecraft Legends!

Minecraft Legends Release Date Announced — Full Details
One of the coolest features of the game is that you won’t be battling enemies alone. You’ll be able to recruit both old and new faces in the Overworld to create an army of mobs, using them to repel the invaders and send them back to the Nether, where they belong.
However, in many cases, you’ll win the battle, but not the war. In addition to defending against these hostile forces, you will need to secure the settlements from future attacks, as the invaders will return stronger every time—but so will you. As the game progresses, you’ll be given access to a variety of powerful weapons, armor, and abilities.
Ever since the game was announced in 2022, news of its development has been kept secret, but that is no longer the case: Mojang has finally announced a release date for the upcoming action strategy game.
During the Xbox Developer Direct event on Jan. 25, Microsoft announced that Minecraft Legends will release for consoles and PC on April 18, 2023. The behemoth tech company also showcased some parts of the gameplay, including story elements, before letting us in on the release date at the end of the trailer.

There’s a lot to unpack from the showcase, including multiplayer features that seem to support both competitive and co-op play, allowing players to take on real-life opponents or play with friends.
Also, we know from the showcase that Microsoft will be releasing two versions of Minecraft Legends: the Standard Edition, which will cost $39.99, and the Deluxe Edition, which will be sold for $49.99. The latter includes a Deluxe Skin Pack that players can use to customize their characters in-game, containing one hero skin, four mount skins and an additional mount skin that’ll be available to use post-launch.
Minecraft Legends will be available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, PC (via Steam), Xbox’s PC Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
