Mobile JRPG Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent New Trailer Reveals Japanese Release Date

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Octopath Traveler is among the best Japanese role-playing games made by Square Enix, thanks to its unique visuals that combine 2D sprites with 3D environments as well as gameplay mechanics like the Job System, that give players a lot of customization options, and turn-based combat. All these features, and more, are hitting iOS and Android devices very soon. At least in Japan.

A few days ago, Square Enix released a brand new trailer for Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, the mobile-exclusive prequel to the Nintendo Switch and PC game. The trailer not only shows more of the game, which looks a lot like the original release, but also confirms the October 28th Japanese release date.

Unfortunately, we still don’t know when or even if Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent will make its way to the West.

While the original game did not break any record on the market, it sold well enough on Switch to make Square Enix develop a PC port, so there’s a good chance that Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent will eventually make its way to North America, Europe and the rest of the world. It would be a bloody shame if it didn’t, considering how good it looks in the footage released so far.

Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent launches in Japan on iOS and Android on October 28th.
