Modern Combat 5: Blackout, the latest entry of the series developed by Gameloft, has received a brand new update today, introducing some new features that will make owners of recent iOS devices quite happy.

The new addition of the new update is Metal support for iOS 8, which will allow the game to look better on iPhone 5S, iPad Air, iPad Mini Retina and iPhone 6/6+.

Metal support will make the game look better on the deviced listed above. Explosions will be bigger and better looking, environments will be more detailed and even weather effects will be enhanced. The overall perfomance of the game also seems to have improved, running smoother than ever.

Aside from Metal support, the new Modern Combat 5: Blackout update doesn’t include any extra content. If you have downloaded extra content for the game, you will also have to download it again.

Modern Combat 5: Blackout has been released not too long ago on the App Store and has managed to become quite successful. For the first time in the series, Modern Combat 5: Blackout is not a free to play game, meaning that all of the game’s content can be unlocked by playing.

Modern Combat 5: Blackout is now available for purchase on the App Store. Gameloft has also recently released a new Modern Combat bundle, which includes the latest entries of the series for a reduced price.
