Netflix launched its gaming service on November 2nd 2021. Netflix Games began its rollout on Android devices, and with five games currently available. There are plans to extend the service to Apple IOS devices very soon, according to the streaming service. Much like the Apple Arcade service, Netflix has said there will be no extra cost, and no ads on the games provided.
What Games Are Currently Available on Netflix Games?
There are currently 5 games provided through the Netflix Games service:
- Stranger Things 3: The Game
- Stranger Things: 1984
- Shooting Hoops
- Teeter Up
- Card Blast
The Stranger Things games are both retro pixel-art adventure games, while Card Blast is a card-based puzzle game. Shooting Hoops is, unsurprisingly, a basketball game, and Teeter Up is a physics balance game.
Netflix subscribers will have to download the games themselves from the streaming service, with some being available to play offline. Any game downloaded will be available in the language subscribers have set on their Netflix account. Parents will be pleased to know that the games won’t be available to download through the ‘Kids’ profiles to safeguard them from any inappropriate content.
How Much Will Netflix Games Cost?
Netflix have promised no additional charges for the gaming service, and no charges for ad removal unlike regular gaming downloads. Games will be free to download from the Netflix service, and can be found by selecting the Games section on site. The current pricing structure of $9, $14, $18 will include the gaming option.
We will have to wait and see if the service increases, and if pricing begins to reflect the demand for more available games in the future.
