New Contra Game Announced For iOS, Launching In China In The Future

This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Among the many classic series that haven’t received new entries in a long time is the Contra series, one of the more popular franchises created by Konami years ago. Like other Konami properties, no new Contra game has been developed in a long time but today it’s been revealed that a new game of the series is currently in development and will be released on iOS devices in the future.

The new Contra game is currently being developed by Tencent, a chinese team that has already worked on other popular properties such as the Monster Hunter series, so it’s not surprising to see another popular franchise getting handed to the team. Actual details on the game are scarce at the moment, as we only know that it will be a side-scrolling shooter game in the vein of the classic Contra games and that it will be a free to play title with microtransactions. Unfortunately the game has only been confirmed for the chinese market as of now so we don’t know if we will ever be able to play it in the West.

The new Contra game will be released in the future on the App Store in China. We currently have no news on a possible Western release but we will keep you updated on the matter as soon as more comes in on it so stay tuned for all the latest news.
