So you’re finished with the post-game of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and you’re now on the hunt for shinies! And not just any shinies, but Legendary shinies!
If you want to know the most effective soft reset method for shiny hunting Legendaries, along with more crucial information, just read on below!
How to Soft Reset in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Whenever you are shiny hunting for Legendaries, soft resetting is a very crucial step of the process. Since these Legendary Pokemon are static encounters most of the time, you can’t just keep running into them in the wild, escaping, and encountering them again until you encounter a shiny like you would with normal Pokemon.
So, the best method to shiny hunt for Legendary Pokemon is by incorporating soft resets. You save your game before the Legendary Pokemon encounter, engage in battle, and if it isn’t shiny, you soft reset and repeat the process from your recent save point right before the Legendary.
Usually in Pokemon games, there is a button or a combination of buttons you press to soft reset your game. This is not the case with the Pokemon BDSP games though. There is no real way to soft reset in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Below is the most efficient way to restart your game when you are shiny hunting for Legendaries:
- Start up either Pokemon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl.
- Save before your Legendary Pokemon encounter.
- Engage with the Legendary Pokemon.
- If it’s not shiny, press the Home Button on your Switch.
- Press the X button to close the game.
- Press the A button to boot up your game once again and repeat.
Sadly, this is the most efficient method to “soft reset” your game when shiny hunting for Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, as the devs have not coded in a method for performing a standard soft reset.
This should not be much of a problem though, as this method simply takes a few more seconds than the normal soft resets that you would perform.
For Legendary Pokemon like Azelf and Uxie, you should keep in mind that it will be visible if they are shiny or not in the overworld itself. Make sure to save your game outside the cave and keep resetting when you enter the cave and notice that they are not shiny.
The odds for encountering a shiny Legendary Pokemon are 1/4096, which are the base shiny odds; and there is no way to increase the likelihood of getting shinies for Legendaries.
