Pokémon Go‘s Summer Ultra Unlock event is now underway, with part two having just started last week. “Ultra Unlock Part 2: Space” introduces several new Pokémon to catch and battle, with Palkia being the standout. Other Pokémon will be appearing as powerful raid battles, with Heracross being one of them. If you’re looking to take on Heracross, be sure to read up on our Pokémon Go Heracross raid guide on weaknesses and counters!
Heracross’ Weaknesses and Counters
Heracross is a dual-type fighting and bug Pokémon, which means it is extremely vulnerable to flying moves, and moderately weak to fairy, fire, and psychic moves. You would do well to bring a flying-type Pokémon, but if you don’t have any fairy, fire, and psychic types will also do the trick. Here are some strong counters against Heracross if you need some ideas:
- Mega Pidgeot
- Moltres
- Charizard
- Rayquaza
- Yveltal
- Tornadus (Incarnate)
- Tornadus (Therian)
- Staraptor
- Braviary
- Honchkrow
- Zapdos
- Ho-Oh
- Togekiss
- Unfezant

The listed Pokémon naturally learn flying fast and charged attacks, making them suitable for taking on Heracross. While fairy, fire, and psychic moves hit the fighting and bug weaknesses individually, flying moves hit both weaknesses, making it the clear choice.
It’s also worth mentioning that raid Heracrosses during this event have a chance to be shiny. If you’re shiny hunting, make sure not to miss out!
The Ultra Unlock Part 2: Space event runs from August 6 to August 17. If you have any other tips or tricks for the event, let us know in the comments below!
