If you’ve played Pokemon Go for any length of time, you’ll understand the significance of Stardust. Unlike candy, which can be used to level up specific Pokemon, Stardust can be used to level up any Pokemon. That means it’s crucial for increasing your Pokemon’s HP and CP, as well as destroying gyms. So, how do you go about getting it?
In this article, we’ll look at how to get Stardust in Pokemon Go, as well as what Stardust is.
What is Stardust in Pokemon Go
Pokémon Go’s currency is called Stardust. It’s the cost of upgrading your Pokémon Gym and Raid teams, as well as trading them with other players for the purpose of exchanging Pokemon. Stardust is also unavailable for purchase in any of the Pokeshops. We’ll learn how to get Stardust in Pokemon Go in the next section.
How to get Stardust in Pokemon Go?
In Pokemon Go, there are three ways to collect Stardust:
- Capture a large number of Pokemon
Catching Pokémon can actually provide a significant amount of stardust. Every time you get a new Pokémon, you’ll also get three candies related to it, as well as 100 Stardust. That goes for any Pokémon you catch, so even if they’re low level, it’s worth catching those seemingly useless Pidgey, Ratites, and Drowzee.
Continue to throw Pokeballs, and the stardust points will accumulate over time. Make sure to participate in the 7-day Catch Bonus to earn 3,000 stardust. You’ll earn more stardust for weather-boosted catches, and the higher your Pokemon’s evolution, the more Stardust you’ll earn.
- Hatch more eggs
Hatching more eggs is the second way to get a lot of Stardust. Hatching eggs is a unique way to develop some extremely powerful Pokémon, but it’s also a convenient way to obtain stardust.
You get a new Pokémon, candy, and stardust when you hatch an egg, and the amount of stardust you get depends on the type of egg you’re hatching: For instance, if you hatch a 10km egg, you will receive more stardust than if you hatch a 2km egg.
- Defend a gym
Defending a gym is the third and final way to earn Stardust. Gyms are difficult to understand in Pokémon Go because the game provides little assistance – but they are a valuable source of stardust. After reaching level 5, you’ll be asked to join one of three teams, after which you’ll be able to fight at gyms.
You’ll get daily stardust rewards if you leave at least one of your Pokémon at a friendly gym. Go to the shop and click the shield icon in the top right-hand corner of your screen to claim this stardust. If you have multiple Pokémon defending gyms for you, that number will naturally rise.
