But here’s the thing: capturing one of them is easier said than done. So the question is, how can someone catch such a powerful rare Pokémon? The answer to that question is…. with the right strategy.

Even Legendary Pokémon have their weaknesses, and it’s up to the Trainer to exploit them. Taking everything into consideration is very important before we can come up with a plan to complete such a task.

So let’s see what we know about Palkia, a fourth-generation Legendary Pokémon.

About Palkia

Palkia is a Dragon-type, Water element, and that of course makes it highly resistant to damage to anything but Fairy and Dragon-type attacks. Its Fast Attacks are both Dragon types, but it has a number of different options when it comes to Charged Attacks. Aqua Tail and Hydro Pump are Water element attacks while Draco Meteor is a Dragon-type attack.

Palkia Counters

Luckily, there’s a Pokémon that falls under both of these categories (Dragon/Fairy) making it an exceptional choice for Trainers.

Of course, we are talking about Mega Altaria, a Pokémon that can increase the damage of both Dragon and Fairy types of its team. That gives players more flexibility when it comes to their team building.

Another great option for any Trainer looking to compete in a Palkia Raid is Mega Charizard X, at least when it comes to Dragon-type Pokémon.

Its ability to enhance other Dragon-type Pokémon, combined with its overall attack damage output, makes it an ideal Pokémon in a fight against Palkia.

Some other good Pokémon choices to fight against Palkia would be the following:

  • Dialga
  • Dragonite
  • Gardevoir
  • Palkia
  • Rayquaza
  • Salamence
  • Togekiss
  • Zekrom

Shiny Palkia

With Ultra Unlock part 2 event, Trainers can now obtain a ‘shiny’ version of Palkia. How can that be done? Simply by defeating Palkia, players have a chance of getting its shiny version. The event raises the chances of encountering the Legendary Pokémon, so the more times players challenge it, the higher their chances become!
