After the mixed responses that Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have gotten since their release, fans are sitting on the edge of their seats, hoping that they get a reboot of the Sinnoh region that they were always hoping for, with Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
Set in a historic Sinnoh region which was referred to as the Hisui Region, Pokemon Legends: Arceus will let players take on the magic and intricacies of Pokemon in a way we have never seen before.
Players will explore a semi-open world environment in a time where modern Pokeballs were not invented yet, but catching Pokemon was still the status quo. Farming for materials and crafting seem to be big aspects in this game — like an RPG in its truest sense — one of the most important craftable items being these ancient wooden Pokeballs.
Stealth is also a huge component of the game, which includes sneakily hurling Pokeballs at unsuspecting Pokemon, rolling away to dodge enemy Pokemon attacks with your own character, and making your way through the open world while trying to not agitate any hostile Pokemon.
Battling is turn-based like the majority of Pokemon games, but have some new features, like choosing between Agile Style and Strong Style when using a move on enemy Pokemon, which have their own pros and cons. The animations for all the moves shown off so far seem much more dynamic and flashy, which is just a treat for the eyes.
Probably the most exciting part of Pokemon Legends: Arceus is that we get to witness brand new Pokemon. Some in the form of Hisuian variants of already existing Pokemon, like Hisuian Zoroark and Hisuian Braviary, and others who have their own identity, like Wyrdeer and Basculegion.
An individual who is popularly known as “The Chinese Riddler” happens to be one of the most trusted leakers in the Pokemon community right now, and has tweeted this out in response to an earlier tweet of his:
While this may intimidate casual players, we are sure there are many Pokemon fans giddy with excitement right now, knowing that Pokemon Legends: Arceus is going to be a fresh take on Pokemon’s otherwise bland formula, with hardcore RPG elements, in a crisp and technologically-modern avatar.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is slated for a global release on January 28, 2022.
