Pokémon Legends: Arceus Sea Legend Guide

Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released last month after much fanfare and hype. It is the latest instalment in the Pokémon series and takes a much different turn than its predecessors do in terms of storytelling and game mechanics.

The game takes place in the ancient Hisui region, which would become modern-day Sinnoh eventually. Fighting and capturing Pokémon is drastically different with battles taking place on the overworld instead of turn-based instance battles as was the staple of the series thus far.

The game finally introduces side quests to the franchise. Aptly named as “requests”, they add a lot of flavor to the game along with lore implications and additional quest rewards upon completion. Today we will be talking about Request 66: The Sea’s Legend.

The Sea’s Legend

The Sea’s Legend is Request no. 66 in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The quest involves following certain instructions which will finally lead to acquiring Manaphy.

This quest was first referenced in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl in the Canalave library, indicating that it was first undertaken in ancient Hisui, many generations ago.

So how does one go about finishing this request?

Obtaining Manaphy

To start with, going by the legends, three different Pokémon are needed:

  • Mantyke: Can be caught in the Cobalt Coastlands
  • Buizel: Can be caught in the Obsidian Fieldlands
  • Overqwil: Use Qwilfish’s Barb Barrage 20 times in Strong Style to evolve

Upon acquiring these three Pokémon mentioned in the legend, set the time to evening by sleeping. Then use the Basculegion mount to head to the massive pointed pillars which resemble huge horns at Sand’s Reach in the Cobalt Coastlands. If done correctly so far, a cutscene will trigger.

After the cutscene, go to the Seaside Hollow north of Veilstone Cape. Over here, there will be a Manaphy spawn alongside a bunch of Phione. Capturing Phione is optional (good for Pokédex completion), but capturing the Manaphy here will end the request.
