In Scarlet and Violet, you may catch Pokemon on trees by throwing a Pokemon at them, fighting in combat, and winning. When you throw a Pokemon to battle with it, it will fall to the ground where your Pokemon may then fight with it. The steps to capture Pokemon on trees are listed below:

• Find the tree where the Pokemon is located.
• Press and hold ZL to lock its attention.
• Select a Pokemon to battle with it.
• Use the control stick to aim at the Pokemon on the tree.
• Press ZR and throw the Pokeball at it. The Pokemon will be hit with it and drop to the ground.
